Prototypes of Peek Retina have undergone extensive validation including a trial in partnership with the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, the Kenyan Ministry of Health and Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Trust. Over 2,000 retinal images were taken using Peek Retina and a standard desktop retinal camera, both were independently graded at Moorfields. Grading of the optic nerve was found to be comparable using both methods and our research has been published and is open access here.
There are three versions of Peek Retina available depending on your intended use: Medical, Educational, and Veterinary:
Peek Retina Medical – Peek Retina Medical is a CE registered class 1 medical device. It is a smartphone based ophthalmoscope that enables retinal imaging through a dilated pupil (please note a registered medical device is subject to regulation so we are unable to ship to all countries. You can check which shipping destinations the Medical version can be sent to by clicking here).
Peek Retina Educational – Peek Retina Educational is designed for those learning about retina examinations. It is not a medical device.
Peek Retina Veterinary – Peek Retina Veterinary is a smartphone based ophthalmoscope specifically for use with animals.
